The Kayak and Canoe Put In Page is a Wiki. A Wiki is a website that allows the visitors themselves to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change available content, and typically without the need for registration. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for mass collaborative authoring. The term wiki also can refer to the collaborative software itself (wiki engine) that facilitates the operation of such a Web site, or to certain specific wiki sites, including the computer science site (the original wiki) WikiWikiWeb and on-line encyclopedias such as Wikipedia (That's where I got this information from).

To use this page, simply click on a numbered location in the map (or a text link below). You will be re-directed to a new page that has lots of useful put-in information for that location. If the page for that location hasn't been edited yet, you can edit it by clicking the "edit this page" link at the top or bottom of the page. There, you will be allowed to edit several of the fields for the benefit of other users.

Please edit responsibly! Try to put the appropriate information in each field. For example, don't put Parking information in the Amenities field. Also, in an effort to prevent vandalism, your IP address will be logged when you make an edit.

You will not be allowed to edit every field. If you would like to submit a link to an external site, please use the Contact Us Form to suggest an external link. We will manually review your submissions, and post them if they are appropriate. An example of an appropriate submission would be a link to your trip report for the specified location. Your trip report can be in any format you like, as it will be hosted remotely from the San Francisco Bay Kayak and Canoe Put In Locations site. You are encouraged to help us link to trip reports, as they are a very valuable resource for paddlers.

Please do not assume that all of the information contained in this site is absolute fact. This site is intended to be a useful resource and guide. As with any guide service, there is always a possibility for errors. This possibility is increased by the multiple-editor nature of this guide. Before you leave, check the maps, and compare them with what you are reading. Does the information make sense? Use your paddlers sense to verify conditions once you arrive to the put-in. If something doesn't seem safe, don't do it! If you discover something that might be dangerous or helpful for other paddlers, please come back and help edit our site. You may save other kayakers a lot of hassle and time. Remember that you are responsible for your own actions.

About Entering your Email:

We will never rent, sell, lease, or share your email address. It will only be used to notify you of updates to the SF Bay Kayak Put-Ins website. If you are using our free kayak classifieds service, Your email will be hidden from users and spambots. How do we do this, and still enable people to find you? We use a captcha based webform - so if someone wants to contact you about your free kayak classified listing, they will have to enter two verification words. This ensures that you only get contacted by a person, not a computer. Also, the person making the contact does not see your email address unless you decide to reply to their correspondence. We want to help keep you safe, and your inbox free of clutter!
